M. Louisa Locke, a retired professor of U.S. and Women’s History, has embarked on a second successful career as the author of the USA Today bestselling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series. These cozy historical mysteries, Maids of Misfortune, Uneasy Spirits, Bloody Lessons, Deadly Proof, Pilfered Promises, and Scholarly Pursuits feature Annie Fuller, a pretend clairvoyant, and Nate Dawson, local lawyer, as they investigate crimes. They helped by a number of friends and family members who live in the O'Farrell Street boarding house, and many of these characters are featured in Locke's shorter works, the novellas, Violet Vanquishes a Villain, Kathleen Catches a Killer, and Dandy Delivers, and her short stories.\n\nNot just content with writing about the past, under the name Louisa Locke, she has turned to the future with the coming of age science fiction adventure novels, including, Between Mountain and Sea, Under Two Moons, and Through Ddaera's Touch, and The Stars are Red Tonight, a novella that she co-authored with her daughter.\n\nLocke is active in the Alliance of Independent Authors and the Historical Fiction Authors Cooperative.
